NHIS Formal Sector Social Health Insurance Program (FSSHIP)
An NHIS product which is based on risk-sharing and solidarity amongst the federal public and civil servants. It is compulsory and guided by law and regulated or implemented by the state.
This a social health security system in which the health care of employees in the Formal Sector is paid for from funds created by pooling the contributions of employees and employers. The Formal Sector consists of the following: Public Sector, Organized Private Sector, Armed Forces, Police and other Uniformed Services.
This is an NHIS product which is based on risk sharing and solidarity amongst the Federal Government and civil servants. Primary care services are covered by capitation, while secondary and tertiary care services are covered on fee-for-services basis.
